Horse racing & greyhounds
Racing carries tax and levy rules that no other sport has, so the legal frame is part of the betting itself. This section reads those rules alongside the vocabulary that settles a racing return.
An each-way bet doubles up: a win part and a place part at identical stakes, so twice the stake shown is spent. Starting price, ante-post, non-runners and the Rule 4 deduction complete the vocabulary, alongside odds and tips for horses and greyhounds.
Tax treatment differs: General Betting Duty on remote bets on UK horse racing stays at 15% although remote betting generally moves to 25% from 1 April 2027, and pool betting is taxed separately.
